NJ Transit Service Disruption
Beginning February 15, and through March 15, NJ Transit service will experience significant schedule adjustments to accommodate the final phase of construction on the Portal North Bridge. This will include train consolidations, cancellations, modified departure times and stopping patterns. NJ Transit has advised that riders who have the ability to work from home should do so during this time.
For employees who commute via mass transit:
- As we anticipate this construction to disrupt NJ Transit, Amtrak, PATH, and Bus routes, employees who regularly commute via mass transit will be permitted to work remotely during this time and in-office requirements will be suspended, unless otherwise instructed by their business or function leadership team
- If there is a significant business need for you to be in the office during this time, please work with your manager to align on a contingency plan and consider other options for your commute.
- Employees who normally take mass transit but need to drive into the office during this time can park in the Gateway South Surface Lot, 87 Edison Place and do not need to make a reservation through ePass. Additional information can be found here or by emailing CICA@prudential.com. To enroll in Newark Parking Alerts, text Pru-NEWARKPARKING to 24639.
- Employees who pay for parking expenses through before-tax contributions to the Commuter Benefit Program can park on-site four times in February and four times in March. This is a temporary increase to the usual monthly limit of three to accommodate increased parking needs during this time.
- Prudential shuttles from Newark Penn Station will run as usual.
- More detailed information about the construction, alternate schedules, and customer support can be found here: Portal Bridge Cutover: What It Means For You | New Jersey Public Transportation Corporation.
For employees who do not commute via mass transit:
- Employees who do not rely upon mass transit to commute into the office are expected to be in the office consistent with their hybrid Employee Work Agreement (EWA), unless otherwise instructed by their business or function leadership team.
- Employees who drive into Newark can likely expect additional traffic and congestion, also leading to longer commutes, so please plan accordingly.
